Dialogue With Professionals in The Oil Tank Cleaning Industry
Jul 10, 2024| Dialogue with professionals in the oil tank cleaning industry
For mixed loading of tank trucks, a practitioner in the tank truck cleaning industry said, "From my understanding, tank trucks should be dedicated to specialized vehicles. It is not possible to use a vehicle that contains diesel or kerosene to load edible oil, even if it has been cleaned."
Recently, there have been media reports that some general cargo tankers mix food liquids and chemical liquids for transportation without cleaning. This news has sparked heated discussions among netizens. According to reports, on May 21st, a tanker truck drove out of the production plant of Sanhe Huifu Grain and Oil Group Co., Ltd. with a full load of first-class soybean oil without cleaning the oil tank. The truck had just transported coal to oil from Ningxia to Qinhuangdao. On May 24th, a tanker truck that had just unloaded coal to oil successfully loaded edible oil into the factory area of China Grain Reserves Corporation (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. without washing the tanks.
A journalist from the Daily Economic News spoke with a practitioner in the tank truck cleaning industry, who mentioned that, as a convention, grain and oil companies not only require tank trucks that enter the factory for oil loading to be cleaned, but also provide third-party inspection reports. Only after passing the inspection can oil be loaded. The appearance of mixed packaging is simply shocking. Even if it is cleaned, it should not be mixed. "I have cleaned it for you, but I cannot guarantee that it can be filled with edible oil. I can only guarantee that it looks clean, but it is a different standard requirement to fill with edible oil.".
Mr. Liu believes that the current focus of discussion on the mixed loading incident of tanker trucks is on whether they have been cleaned or not. From the perspective of a cleaning industry professional, this is not actually a problem of whether they have been washed or not, but rather a problem that should not have been mixed: "That is a chemical product that has been loaded and harmful to human health. How could it be used to load edible oil? To put it bluntly, using a manure truck to load edible oil is not as serious in terms of safety as using a car loaded with kerosene or diesel to load edible oil."
