1. Industrial NaBr is hygroscopic in the air. Soluble in water, the aqueous solution is neutral. Slightly soluble in alcohol. Anhydrous sodium bromide crystals are precipitated in the solution at 51 °C, and dihydrate is formed at a temperature lower than 51 °C. Its bromide ion can be replaced by fluorine and chlorine. Under acidic conditions, it can be oxidized by oxygen to release bromine. It can react with dilute sulfuric acid to generate hydrogen bromide.
